Celebrating World Radio Day
February 13, 2015 by CFUZ

World Radio Day is about celebrating radio, why we love it and why we need it today more than ever. A day to remember the unique power of radio to touch lives and bring people together across every corner of the globe.

Radio reaches over 95 per cent of people worldwide and several radio stations in Africa have more than a million listeners each. One of the benefits of community radio is that it reaches a wide range of people and addresses the realities of local life. Community radio often speaks in languages ignored by mainstream media and shares vital information with hard-to-reach audiences.

Children and young people make up an important percentage of this audience. But young people’s voices are still not heard in a consistent and recognised way. The theme for World Radio 2015 is Youth & Radio. Help us celebrate by listening to some of the amazing audio the students of SD67 made last year on their very own show: The Creation Station!
