FOONYAP (Calgary)
"her voice can move mountains" - CBC Radio 3
Born in Calgary, FOONYAP is a classically-trained violinist and vocalist with an incomparable sound. Previously collaborating with Woodpigeon and Art Bergmann, her latest solo release 'Palimpsest' is a therapeutic reconciliation with her sheltered Chinese-Catholic heritage and the intense classical music training of her childhood. A haunting and challenging experimental-folk album, 'Palimpsest' has "a signature sound that alternates between vibrating lullabies and primordial heart-explosions," (Discorder), drawing comparisons to Björk, Braids, Lhasa, and Kate Bush. Described by Fader as "a tense and bespoke mixture of swampy electronics, strings, and vocals that flash with a bold volcanic brilliance," the album has captivated audiences across Canada and was named #6 in the Top 30 albums of the year by the Toronto Star.

FOONYAP's performances captivate audiences with looped violin, mandolin, and voice creating "textured complexities" that showcase her "gifted and powerful voice" (The Reflector).

An Ant And An Atom (Lethbridge)
An Ant And An Atom is the solo project of Sean Warkentine, based in Lethbridge, AB, commanding electronic noise, drone, ambient, and post-rock genres into a mass of sound. Having appeared at numerous music festivals including Calgary's renownd Sled Island Festival, he has performed alongside diverse acts, including Big Brave, R.Ariel, Technical Kidman, Bitter Fictions, Pigeon Breeders, Pyramid//Indigo, and recently completed a prairie-provinces tour with Valiska. This summer he will be touring the Prairies and West Coast in support of a new EP, Exterior, with tourmate, emerging experimental pop violinist, FOONYAP. An Ant And An Atom's live performances join together his love of intricate design and powerful immersion as he crafts slow burning melodies atop hazy vocal samples layered with visceral textures that explode into blasts of noise.
